There is a common belief in Hinduism known as “born again” or simply put “re-incarnated. In the holy scriptures of India, it is stated that to be born again is a boon and it happens all the time. Today, India has been “born again” or “re-incarnated”.
When elections are held in developed countries like the US and the UK, the only issues that are debated are the economic progress of the country and the journey to achieve that progress. Though the Indian electorateis largely illiterate and poor, their minds are easily manipulated by short term unsustainable placebos. It is the first time in Indian history and elections, the real issue was economic growth and development. This is a tectonic swift in the mind set of Indian voters. The upward inclined tendencies of economic progress have been uplifted; whereas the downward inclined tendencies of caste and religion based politics have been set aside. To this, we salute the People of India.
Time and again, history has proved that what citizens in any country want is personal progress. They want better food on the table, better education, better infrastructure, a better house and a better car. Basically, the small things. But it is these small things that are the most difficult to provide. So, what do rogue government/politicians do. They create artificial needs in the minds of people and undoubtedly they abuse the system. What happened in the long run is anarchy for decades, without any real progress. The newly appointed government campaign was solely fought on economic progress, on providing those real needs. The people of India responded positively, by pushing the artificial needs to the background and concentrating single mindedly on economic progress.
The adaptive mind set displayed by Indians in the recent poll is of an electorate that is aware and open to new economic models and to technological advances; forward thinking. With Mr. Narendra Modi, at the helm of a new government, India is poised to transform itself into a global economy. The essence is to provide every Indian fair access to employment, food, water and good governance. This task might not be easy for the new man in charge. He will have to battle through all the chaos and problems that have plagued India’s progress in the past. For sparkling growth, he will have to overcome a suite of intangibles issues like fair government, reliable rules and independent courts. At this juncture, we wish to see India getting back to its Shining Star status.
Across India the champagne cork is popping, baring a few. I am not too thrilled either as the Sensex has surged more than 500 points since this morning and I am not long on it. But today, it is not about personal gains or losses. Today is about the bright future that lies ahead of India. It is a rare opportunity for each and every Indian to be proud and jubilant. Today, India has been born again.
Namaste New India.
